Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Lineserve Managed Kubernetes.
Managed Kubernetes is a service where we handle the complexity of running Kubernetes for you. We manage the control plane (API server, scheduler, controller manager, etcd), handle upgrades, ensure high availability, and provide monitoring. You focus on deploying and managing your applications.
Lineserve Kubernetes clusters are available in our Tier III data centers across Africa: Nairobi (Kenya), Lagos (Nigeria), and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). All facilities feature redundant power, DDoS protection, and 99.99% uptime SLA. You can deploy clusters in any of these locations for optimal performance.
Basic clusters have a single master node and are ideal for development, testing, and non-critical workloads. Fault Tolerant clusters have 3 master nodes with automatic failover, ensuring your control plane remains available even if a node fails. We recommend Fault Tolerant for production workloads.
You pay for the cluster management fee (Basic or Fault Tolerant) plus the resources used by your worker nodes. Worker node costs are based on vCPU, RAM, and storage consumed. You can scale worker nodes up or down and only pay for what you use.
We support Kubernetes versions 1.28, 1.29, 1.30, and 1.31. New versions are added shortly after upstream release. You can upgrade your cluster version through the console with zero downtime.
Yes! You can enable cluster autoscaler which automatically adds or removes worker nodes based on your workload demands. Set minimum and maximum node counts and the autoscaler handles the rest.
Yes. You can create a private cluster where the control plane and worker nodes have no public IP addresses. Access the cluster through a VPN or bastion host for maximum security.
We provide a CSI driver that automatically provisions persistent volumes when you create PersistentVolumeClaims. Choose from HDD, Universal SSD, or Fast SSD storage classes based on your performance needs.
Yes. All clusters include built-in monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana dashboards. Logging can be enabled to send container logs to our logging service or your own logging backend.
Fault Tolerant clusters have a 99.95% uptime SLA for the control plane. Basic clusters have a 99.5% uptime SLA. Worker node availability depends on your configuration.
Yes. You can migrate existing workloads using standard Kubernetes tools like kubectl, Helm, or Velero for backup/restore. Our team can also assist with migration planning.
